Library Visitors

This week K15 and 16 had the Travelling Connect Library in to teach us about cyber safety.

Happy Birthday Hannah - 7 Today!

Exciting parcels arrived in K17 and K18 today.

This month both our classes received a mystery box from the courier post. We were given a job to write postcards and complete a poster all about ourselves and our class. It was really exciting to contribute and work on this project together. The courier picked up our parcels and they were delivered to the schools we were given. K17 sent theirs to Room 10 at Napier Central School and K18 sent theirs to Room 12 at Hamilton West School.

Today we were so excited to receive our own courier parcels and open them together. We read the poster together and then the 32 postcards. We joined them all together and read the message it created. Once we had worked in our home-base we joined together and looked at our schools online. K17 were excited to see Room 10's blog. We hope to keep in contact and become pen-pals.
Yay. Thanks heaps Room 10 from Napier Central. WE love our poster.

Reading the awesome postcards and creating the secret message.

Our very cool postcards and awesome message.

K17's poster that we sent to Napier Central School.

K18's poster that we sent to Hamilton West School.

What a busy week in K17 and K18!

This week we have had the Travelling Connect Library in teaching us about cyber safety, the Dog Safety programme run by the CCC, our first session of choir, a last swim in the pool for the season and a hub assembly to finish the week. We have certainly learnt a great deal of new information within the week and had loads of fun at the same time.

Dog Safety

Today the children all enjoyed learning about 'Dog Safety' with Chris from Christchurch City Council. The children learnt...

the responsibilities of owing a dog
the correct way to approach a dog
how to avoid being bitten by a dog
the daily routine of an 'Animal Management Officer'

It was a special day for Ludo the dalmatian, as it was his last school visit before his retirement!

Clip and Climb

Kahikatea hub had a lot of fun at Clip and Climb. It was great to see the children challenging themselves to go a bit higher or using less notches to extend their climbing skills. A few children even manged to navigate themselves into the tricky cave!

Assembly Time!

Yesterday Room 13 ran our hub assembly. We all enjoyed listening to the Guess Who writing and also seeing the fabulous word art posters. Well done! Here is a photo of most of our certificate winners. A couple of children had already headed back to class before the photo was taken. We will include them in the photo next time we give out certificates.

Choir

Rooms 13 and 1 have enjoyed their first two sessions of choir with our specialist teacher Ros Emeleus. Rooms 17 and 18 will start their sessions later this term, with all the year 3/4 classes coming together in term 2, culminating at a performance at the end of that term.
